Yellowstone - Bull Elk
Yellowstone - East Drive
Sheridan WY, June 1, 2013:  Yesterday (May 31) we took the drive down the East side of the Yellowstone loop and exited the park at Cody WY.  We then drove directly to Sheridan WY.  We drove through various landscapes - all were incredibly beautiful and awesome (Those words again!)!  As we climbed up into the mountains we drove into the clouds and the temperature started to drop.  It was snowing, the road was wet and we were concerned we would come upon black ice.  Fortunately, the temp. got down to 33 and then we started to descend - Whew!

Yellowstone Bull Bison
While in Yellowstone we saw many elk & bison plus we recorded a few new birds on our life-list.   After we left the park we spotted an antelope and a cow moose with a very big baby as the snow was pelting us!

We were exhausted (again) at the end of the day and are very happy that we planned a rest day in Sheridan.  The sun is shining to day and it is much warmer!

Bison with Calves
Today we drove from Jackson Hole WY through the parks to Gardiner MT.  This was one of the most fantastic scenic drives of our trip.

We not only saw mountains and valleys, we also viewed bison, a mountain goat, many elk, and several species of birds (even white pelicans!).  It rained a bit on and off and was foggy - very moody! All in all - a fantastic day!
