Lafayette LA: On the way out of Lafayette, we stopped at a small restaurant, The Boiling Point, Sulphur TX) near the Texas line.  Since we didn't have crawfish for dinner, we ordered them for lunch.  They were wonderful - as was the homemade boudin - and a Shiner Bock beer (from Shiner TX).

Crawfish, boudin, and Shiner Bock beer!  What could be better?!

And...after driving to San Antonio, we were exhausted and slept very well.  Our room for two nights is an upgrade to a full suite in a Holiday Inn - lucked out this time!! Off to see the Riverwalk today.

Louisiana Mansion
On the beach!
Lafayette LA:  The day started out dark and rainy.  We took Rte 90 after leaving Biloxi and drove along the beach - a very unusual area. It was very slow going through all the traffic in New Orleans, but we finally got to Rte 90 on the other side of the city and took the big loop up to Lafayette. The weather also cleared up after we left New Orleans.
Tonight we ate dinner at Randol's (after an 11 year wait between visits).  The Cajun band played until 9:30 P.M.  There were also 3 or 4 bus loads of teenagers in Lafayette for the "Beta" Conference (link) and they dominated the dance floor until the management stepped in!!  We danced waltzes and two steps on and off during dinner - had a great time!! The motel is full of kids also - hope we can get some sleep tonight.....

Biloxi MS:  Rain, rain, rain last evening - very happy that we arrived at our motel before dark - it was dark enough with all the rain, highway mist, lightning....Whew!!  Nice Japanese dinner and off to bed!!

We are just in Oldsmar (Tampa) for a couple of lazy days before heading West tomorrow (May 1). We will drive to Biloxi MS - then on to Lafayette LA on May 2.  If the weather cooperates, we will take a swamp tour in the Atchafalaya Swamp (link) and then on to Randol's (link) for Cajun dinner and dancing! (We were there 12 years ago and remember it fondly!!)
