Windsor VT, June 14, 2013:  We've enjoyed our 3 days in Vermont - even though the first two were rainy and cold.  Today it was sunny and beautiful.  We drove around all the local villages, did some serious shopping in Lebanon NH, ate lobster, tasted local cheeses & local beer (Harpoon Brewery) and took more photos! We didn't spend much time in our resort!!  On to Gloucester, Rockport and Boston tomorrow!

Ascutney Mountain Resort, Windsor VT
Ascutney Mountain Resort, Windsor VT, June 11, 2013:  We arrived at our resort this afternoon after driving through rain all day.  It rained hard while we were driving through heavy traffic in Montreal.  The worst part of the it was that the trucks spewed out a heavy cloud of spray and it was almost impossible to see the lines in the road.  Somehow we made it!!  We will be here until Saturday morning, and then we'll head out for the Boston area!

Ottawa - The Old & The New

Today we spent the day in Ottawa at National Gallery of Canada and the Notre-Dame Cathedral  We spent a large portion of our time looking at the Canadian Artists, especially the group of seven.
Our favorite have always been Lawren Harris (Group of Seven) and Emily Carr (Contemporary with the Group of Seven).

Lake Nipissing Tour Boat

Cecil's in North Bay ON

Lake Nipissing

Carousel in North Bay
North Bay, ON, 6-9-13:
We drove from Espanola to Ottawa today.  On the way we stopped at North Bay.  We had a wonderful Sunday Brunch at Cecil's Eatery and Beer Society.  Then we drove down to the shore of Lake Nipissing and rode on one of the Carousels.  Originally there were three carousels along the shoreline as part of a community park area.  One of the carousels we saw today was the first carousel in North America to have all native animals to ride on.

Bridal Veil Falls - Manitoulin Island
 Manitoulin Island, June 8, 2013:
We drove from "The Soo" directly to Manitoulin Island.  Manitoulin is the larges fresh water lake island in the world. The Island is so large that it took us 45 minutes just to drive to Bridal Veil Falls once we got on the island.

Historic Swing Bridge onto Manitoulin
The swing bridge is a one lane bridge and is the only way to drive onto the island - it is the North entry.  Arrive from the South, travelers need to take Tobermory - which is about a two hour drive from Collingwood, where we used to have our condo!  We also stopped in at the art gallery of Ojibwa artist, Daphne Odjig.
